PLEASE NOTE: No volunteers under 12 years of age please.
Volunteers aged 12-18 years old must be accompanied by an adult.

What you should wear:

Closed toed shoes (preferably boots), jeans or pants that can get dirty, a hat, sunscreen.

What you should bring:

A completed volunteer form, gloves, bug spray, an open heart, and lots of love.

What you will learn:

In general, volunteering will give you a chance to work around the horses of HHHR in addition to working with them. Whatever your abilities or experiences, we can find something you can help with. We do a lot and there is definitely something for everyone!

We do plenty of fun stuff like grooming, bathing, and feeding the horses. You’ll watch and learn and may end up helping us as we provide them with medical care and hold them for the farrier. You’ll watch and get the chance to deworm them and help us mix up sandpurge. We spend lots of time with them, but here, you will also see how much work goes in to caring for them. Volunteers help to clean up the pastures, stalls, run-ins, etc. We unload hay and feed and refill hay and feed bins. We cut branches and haul them to the fire pit. We feed horses, mix feed, sweep out sheds and stalls. We wash buckets, go through donations, organize hay sheds, feed sheds, storage rooms. We clean up various items, etc.

If you’re worried about what you’ll be able to do, we have heavy jobs and light jobs, all are necessary to keep us running, so please don’t hesitate to sign up with us.

If you’re a first time horse owner or hoping to become one, we will help educate you on what you need to know. We strive to ensure that you and your new best friend will be safe and have peace of mind, even when problems arise!

Step One: Volunteer Questionnaire

Take a moment to answer some quick questions.
We want to make sure that you get the most out of your visit with us.

It's ok if you don't! We can teach you everything you need to know about the care and maintenance of horses.
We like to get to know all of our volunteers. Tell as as much or as little as you'd like.

Step Two: Volunteer Release Form

Thank you for volunteering with us. Be sure to download the release form, fill it out, and bring it with you on volunteer day.
